KW

Intstitute for Contemporary Art

Since its foundation in the 1990s, the KW (short for Kunst-Werke) Institute for Contemporary Art in Auguststraße has shaped Berlin’s standing in the international art scene like almost no other institution. As a house without its own collection, it is dedicated to the central questions of the present and the further development of national and international contemporary art and cultural discourse in solo, themed and group exhibitions – less than 700 metres from the Iconic.

Root Restaurant

At the Telegraphenamt Berlin

ROOT combines high culinary standards with a nonchalant down-to-earth attitude. Almost all the ingredients for the Asian delicacies served here come from the region. They are prepared in the open kitchen and enjoyed in the impressive premises of the former telegraph office. Cocktail art is also at home here, in the adjoining ROOT Bar. How nice that you only have to walk 800 metres home to the Iconic and can therefore stay a little longer.

You can hardly live in a more central location in Berlin than in Iconic. Whether it’s art, culture and nightlife, cafés and restaurants, schools, nurseries, local amenities with shops for daily needs or transport links – nothing is left to be desired here. You can even take a quick break from the big city with the Tiergarten park just 7 minutes away by bike.
